TOP ROCK (Battle Rock, UpRock)
The Uprock is often used as the lead in a sequence of movements. Also to style between dance sets, scrambling and power moves giving yourself a chance to think before continuing. It is different in each and every individual, and based on many different influences. Dancing with a variety of styles / mime, acting and fighting movements. Consisting step dancing, tap dancing, speed dancing, punching, throwing imaginary weapons etc... Often used against someone in break dance battles. (Rythem is the key here)
FORWARD WORM
Start with your back arched start from the back end and body waveforward
once the front half of your body is on ground only Do push up with the arms (at the end of the body wave) Kick both legs backwards into the air drop both legs on the ground Prepare to repeat the same motion It is a rather easy move and can be used in various ways
NAME: SCRAMBLE (six step)
Start this move from ground position. Put both hands on the ground in front of you creating a balance point. Then continuously run in a circular motion around the axis created by the hands carrying your weight. Keep running in the same circle and sometimes switch directions. The patterns differ from individual to individual. There is no proper or wrong way to perform this task. When you get use to it you will understand your rythem. (Once moves are mastered, combined moves with freezes, cartwheels return to uprock then back to scramble etc...)
See above illustration.
NAME: KNEE SPIN
Choose which knee you can gain most balance. All your weight is then to be balanced on that knee. The other leg is raised in altitude. Use your upper body to balance yourself in opposition to the raised leg. (Picture the image of a see - saw) Use your hands to Spin in the chosen direction. After the flow of motion is established. Speed will be gained and you can lift your hands from the ground to keep spinning.
NAME: BACK SPIN
Sit on the floor with your left leg bent and your right leg straight in a 90 degree angle. (Use left arm to support you)
Swing your left leg around followed by your right in a wide circular motion while droping from sitting position on to your upper back.
[3] Propell then pull your legs inwards fast and keep your body in a tight ball. Keep your shoulders and lower back off the ground to spin longer.
NAME: WINDMILL
Start on the ground with your support elbow in your gut and hand balancing you. Your other arm should be above your head. Lift your first foot of the ground. Then lift the other leg even higher. Keep legs spread in the splits position. Then collapse on your right shoulder smoothly. (Do not mash your sholder against the floor.) Push up to the shoulder side and kick your right leg under. Keep pivot hand on the floor as you go around. Follow with your left leg. When right leg is raising then go on to your upper back. Propell both legs and skip back onto your pivot arm. Once you get this, try again but this time try to rotate twice. It is not an easy move. So dont get discouraged. (In the begining stages do not worry about no hand windmills or pyramid windmills, they will come later) The faster you skip "n"spin the easier it becomes.
NAME: THE CRAB
Start this move by balancing yourself on both hands. Keep your legs off the ground and spread open. Practice hopping on hands without your legs or upper half of body touching the ground. In this move spinning is achieved by shifting your weight from one arm to the other. Walk in a circular motion while keeping the upper half of the body and the lower half off the ground. Spin quickly.
NAME: 1990
Figure out which hand you want to spin on.
You should usually spin on your stronger hand,
You start in a standing position. Then you cross your left leg over your right leg. Now you want to try doing a cartwheel putting your left hand down first . Then you want to kick up with your right leg followed by your left. While upside down you,ll want to shift your balance to your right hand. Whirl both legs following the circular motion to start spinning. Lift your left hand while bringing your legs together. You sould spin in the chosen direction. Dont look at the ground. You have to spin on the correct part of your hand to have the correct rotation. (Spin on the lower part of your palm, lift up you fingers.) (bend your elbow a little.) Think of a spinning top. Be completely vertical, spin with speed.
NAME: 2000
This move is very simular to the 1990. The only difference is now you are to spin on both hands. ( One on top of the other ) Just repeat the same steps you have learned for the1990 move. ( Spin on the palm of your bottom hand, Spin with speed )
NAME: ELBOW SPIN
You should know how to do a 1990 before you learn this move.
Do a 1990 motion put your first hand on the ground, before you put your pivot elbow on the ground. Similar to the 1990 perpell your legs. This is a difficult move and usually takes time to learn . Remember it's the same motion as the 1990 only on your elbow. To keep spinning use the free hand on the ground to generate speed.
Remember to use elbow padding.
NAME: FLARE
Start in aposition with legs both open (not in the splits / but spread)
Start to lower yourself and put one hand down and swing your kick leg as hard as you can while jumping over the other leg. The jumping leg kicks straight in the air towards the opposite shoulder (keep both legs straight.)
Put your other hand down. Make sure all your wieght shifts to that arm and kick your legs up as high as possible. Start lifting the other hand and using the momentum to swing the legs in circular motion around the back. (keep legs wide open)
Now put your other hand down in front of you (both hands should be in front and your legs in the back) Quickly lift the first hand and swing both legs under. (keep both legs open) Always use the lead leg to lift you high whenever you reach the front. Keep repeating this same motion. Practice this and you will have the flare in no time.
NAME: HEAD SPIN
Be careful with this one. Practice your balance and strengthen your neck muscles.
[1] Do a handstand, with your feet up in the air. Use both hands for support. Make sure you have true balance. (Then slowly try circular spin walking with your hands.) [2] To start, spread out legs in splits then twist your hips in the opposite direction that you want to spin in. [3] Tthe twist your hips towards the correct direction while bringing your legs together in a circular motion. (Learn slowly then build momentum over time.) Use hands to keep balance and build speed. Once your spinning take your hands off the floor. Spin a little then put hands back down and use your hands to spin again. Keep legs in splits position and concentrate.
Were a head spin hat on your head. This move is extremely dangerous.
NAME: HALOSS
Know how to do windmill before doing this.
This is a move for advanced break dancers. / You must already be able to do the windmill.
First do wind mill and generate momentum. Get to a 45 degree angle and then catch yourself in a headglide position. (keep your head on the floor) Quickly do a windmill / headspin < remember at a 45 degree angle> then catch yourself with both hands when facing down. ( legs still outspread in the air)
Keep the rotation at a 45 degree angle then quickly lift both hands and repeat the same spin like the first one. Only your hands and head touch the floor. Legs stay open.
Remember your winmdmills and head spins need to me advance to get the motion of this move properly. This move is extremely dangerous.
